Will attract Godly friends

Let’s look at what the Bible says about friendship?

Proverbs 18:24
The man of too many friends will be broken in pieces and come to ruin, but there is a true, loving friend who is reliable and sticks closer than a brother.

Ecclesiastes 4:9
Two are better than one because they have a more satisfying return for their labor.

John 15:13
No one has greater love, or stronger commitment, than to lay down his life for his friends.

Proverbs 27:17
As iron sharpens and influences another through discussion.

1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage and comfort one another and build up one another, just as you are doing.
To summarize, according to the above verses a godly friend is someone who:

• Will lay down his/her life for their friend
• Will encourage and comfort each other
• Will sharpen one another
• Will lift each other up

Friends can make or break your child and we, as parents, must teach our children from a young age to seek out Godly friends with above mentioned characteristics.
Why do we need Godly friends?

• To encourage one another
• To ask the difficult questions
• To offer Godly counsel.
• To keep one another accountableTo pray for each other
• To share Jesus with each other

Prayer
We lift up our children to You and ask that You would bring Godly friends and role models into their lives.  Give them the wisdom they need to choose friends who will uplift them and never compromise their walk with You in order to gain acceptance.  Give us as parents wisdom to guide our children in the selection of their friends.  Let us instill in them Your word by reading, praying and worshiping together every day.  May each of their friendships always glorify You.
